What is a Shade Sail and why would you need one?  Shade sails offer so many advantages for your business or home.  From the name, they obviously provide shade, but they also do a lot more.

Shade Sails can be used in a wide variety of settings. Not only are they stylish but also practical: they can  be a patio or verandah cover, or can even protect the family car.  Put one over the pool to protect your  family from harmful UV rays (ratings differ depending on colour and type of fabric) and to keep leaves out of the water. They offer protection from the elements: rain, wind and sun yet also provide ventilation. Shade sail fabrics are available in a huge range of colours so there's one to suit your home or business.

Shade Sail Installation

In order to get the best possible performance from your Shade Sail, we recommend that you allow us to install it for you.  We can provide the sail to you to install yourself but we do not recommend it, simply because it is our job to design and install shade sails, which we've been doing for 15 years. So what's involved in the installation process?  Firstly, we discuss the design of the sail with you, of particular importance is sun direction at different times of the day and throughout the year.  Positioning is very important as it can make a huge difference in shade result.  Next, we measure and decide on the fixing points.  Shade sails are under a lot of tension and where it's fixed to needs to be strong and able to withstand the tension.  Steel posts are generally the strongest stucture to use.

 

Shade Sail Fabrics

Choose the right shade sail fabric from the start and it will reward you for many years to come.  Choose the wrong fabric and you risk costly problems such as repairs or replacements.  There are two main types of shade sail fabric, water resistant (permable) and water proof (impermeable).  Water resistant fabrics allow a small amount of water through while water proof fabrics don't allow any water through.  UV and shade protection varies between the fabrics depending on the colour and rating.
